1990s

1991

Jan. 8: Jeremy Wade Delle, 16, commits suicide with a gun, in class, at Richardson, High School. The incident inspires the song "Jeremy," written and recorded by nationally-popular grunge-rock band, Pearl Jam (released Sept. 22, 1992).

1992

n.d.: An office of the Holy Land Foundation, which becomes the target of an FBI investigation, is opened in Richardson.

n.d.: Barney the Dinosaur, a popular children's TV character on video and PBS is created by the Lyons Group of Richardson and filmed at Lyrick Studios, also in Richardson.

n.d.: TxDOT begins widening and improving U.S.75-North Central Expressway.

1993

Spring: City of Richardson begins holding annual Wildflower Arts & Music Festival.

1994

n.d.: New U.S. Post Office at 1206 Apollo Drive opens.

n.d.: Three ponds or lakes created in Huffhines Park when Huffhines Creek is dammed as part of the City of Richardson's 1993 Bond Proposition 5 for improved drainage. Retaining walls also built. (Completed 1995.)

March 27: During a trip to Dallas to attend the wedding of his step-brother, Roger Clinton, and to watch a basketball game at Reunion Arena, President Bill Clinton and wife, Hillary, attend worship services at the First Baptist Church in Richardson.

1995

n.d.: Spring Creek Nature Trail opens.

1996

n.d.: "Wishbone the dog," a popular PBS series, is filmed at Lyrick Studios in Richardson.

April: Town of Buckingham annexed to Richardson.

1998

n.d.: Barnes and Noble bookstore opens at Richardson Square Mall.

1999

n.d.: TxDOT completes the widening and improving U.S.75-North Central Expressway, including "High Five" overpass near Richardson.
