HILL-ROBBERSON HOUSE

Location Temorarily at Richardson Fire Department Fire Training and Emergency Operations Center, 1621 E. Lookout Drive, Richardson (previously located on grounds of Owens Country Sausage Farm)

NOTE: There are two mistakes on the plaque. Belle Robberson was born in 1879, not 1870, and she did not teach in the house for almost forty years. It was closer to thirty years. It would also be more accurate to say that she ran a kindergarten, rather than "taught school."

MARKER TEXT:

"Early Richardson settler A. H. Hill built this home about 1887 at 206 Sherman Street, on what had been railroad property. In 1902 it was purchased by Margaret A. Robberson for her daughter Virginia Bell Robberson (1870 - 1940). Known as "Miss Belle," Virginia taught school in the home for almost 40 years. The Victorian-style residence, which features a distinctive gabled roof and Gingerbread ornamentation, was moved to this site in 1979."

ERECTED 1982
