The building at 117 E. Main, now part of The Tavern on Main Street, was constructed in 1924, when Sam Harben and partner W. S. Spotts started the successful Harben-Spotts Printing Company. In 1929, Spotts' son joined the firm and in 1931, after his father died, he and his mother continued the partnership with Harben, who sold out to the younger Spotts when he (Harben) retired in 1959. The building was also the decades-long home of The Richardson Echo. Below: The historic heart of Richardson, from an 1878 map.
